Erratic driving leads to massive truck accident

We pass them every day on the highways of Louisiana and trust them to operate their oversized vehicles safely. We trust their companies to have trained their drivers well and provide them with safe, working equipment. That’s a fair amount of trust when it comes to our safety and the safety of our loved ones, and when that trust it broken, it can have devastating consequences.

In a recent truck accident in nearby Alabama, motorists reported a semi truck that was swerving in and out of its lane and off the road several times. Another 18-wheeler used a C.B. radio in an attempt to get the driver’s attention, but with no success. He drove up beside the other truck and honked, but got no response from the driver of the out-of-control tractor-trailer.

He continued driving and a short time later was cut off by a car. Using the emergency brakes, he was able to stop his vehicle, but was subsequently rear-ended by the erratic semi. Investigators say the driver of the 18-wheeler in question never even attempted to stop his vehicle. He was killed in the crash.

An investigation is being conducted into why the driver seemed to have no control and why he didn’t pull over if something was wrong with the truck.

By some miracle, no one else was injured in the crash, though one woman’s car was damaged because of flying debris.

If you’re involved in a semi truck accident, you should not have to deal with medical expenses or funeral costs alone. A Louisiana attorney can help you with your case and may be able to procure compensation.
