So many commuters use trains and buses in Louisiana and throughout the United States that accidents are almost inevitable. Commercial vehicle accidents can occur anytime, either as a result of negligence, poor weather conditions, malfunctions or any number of other factors. Sometimes the accident is completely beyond the vehicle's control. But whatever the case, the results are often widespread and devastating.
In New York's Times Square, multiple people were injured when two double-decker buses were involved in the same accident. According to reports, one of the buses collided with the other and ended up jumping the curb and careening toward a crowd of pedestrians. The bus finally came to a stop after crashing into a stone bench.
More than a dozen people were injured, three seriously so. A traffic light that fell during the accident is thought to have contributed to the injuries. All of the victims were pedestrians except one. The driver of the first bus has since been arrested. He faces charges of driving under the influence, although the substance suspected has not been reported.
Accidents such as this could and should be avoided. It is only fortunate that no one was killed or more severely injured. Even so, many of the victims may choose to seek compensation for their injuries and the distress caused to them by the incident.
Although this happened in another state, commercial vehicle accidents are still common in Louisiana. If you are involved in an accident either on or with a commercial vehicle, you may benefit from the advice of an attorney. He or she can help you decide whether you may be able to claim compensation and may also be able to assist you in getting the most out of your insurance provider.
