Louisiana moped driver dies after crash

Reports say that driver of a 2013 Taoi moped driving eastbound on La. 300 when the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet Astro van going north made a right turn into the path of the moped. The moped collided with the back of the van and the driver was ejected from the moped. He was pronounced dead after being taken to the Interim LSU hospital. The accident occurred on Thursday, Feb. 12 at around 2:45 p.m.

Both drivers were from St. Bernard Parish. The driver of the moped was 33 years old and the driver of the van was 29. According to state police, the driver of the van consented to a breath test, and there was no alcohol detected. Although it is believed that the driver of the van was not impaired, police are waiting for toxicology results on both men, and at the time of reporting, the incident was still under investigation. Police also say that criminal charges are pending.

When a person is killed in an accident, it can become a serious financial burden on the victim's family. In addition to the expenses associated with medical care and funeral services, a household might also suffer from lost financial support because the victim is no longer providing their income.

In order to seek compensation for these damages, a family might seek advice from a personal injury lawyer. The lawyer could inform the parties about the legal proceedings involved in pursuing compensatory awards for wrongful death and damages. In addition, they might also offer representation in court or during settlement negotiations with the allegedly at-fault party.
