Louisiana accident injures motorcyclist

Near the area of Causeway Blvd and 43rd Street in Metairie just after seven on the morning of March 2, a motorcycle and another vehicle were involved in an accident. Reports indicated that the rider of the motorcycle was the only party injured.

At the time of the accident, the motorcycle had been traveling north on Causeway Blvd. The collision occurred when the driver of the other vehicle attempted to turned in front of the motorcycle. The two vehicles crashed, and the motorcycle slid into another vehicle, damaging the car's gas tank. That car caught on fire, but no one was injured due to the flames, according to reports. The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike. He sustained several broken bones from the accident and was transported to a hospital for medical care. Authorities indicated that the motorcyclist's injuries were not life threatening.

With the number of motorcycles on the road, all drivers need to exercise caution while driving to avoid being involved in a serious collision. All collisions have the potential to cause harm, but the victim of a motorcycle accident tends to be more vulnerable to physical injuries than those in passenger vehicles since the motorcycle offers less protection. Being thrown from the motorcycle can result in severe head injuries, broken bones, serious abrasions or even death. Many injuries may cause the victim to miss work or incur large amounts of medical bills. Since negligence often plays a role in motorcycle crashes, victims may feel that the situation warrants the attention of a personal injury lawyer.

In the event of an accident, a lawyer could review documentation regarding the incident, such as police reports or the victim's medical records. Such evidence might be instrumental in demonstrating the damages that the liable party might be ordered to pay.
