Trucker dies in multivehicle accident in Louisiana

On Behalf of | Jul 17, 2014 | Truck Accidents |

With so many vehicles on the roads, accidents are, sadly, not an uncommon sight. Regardless of the type and number of vehicles involved, traffic accidents can often be devastating, resulting in serious injuries or even death for those involved. Trucks are no exception to this rule and, in fact, often become embroiled in large scale accidents, especially if they are towing a heavy or volatile load.

In a recent Louisiana truck accident, a 54-year-old man lost his life. The tragic chain-reaction crash occurred when the victim’s 18-wheeler truck collided with the rear of a big rig after allegedly failing to slow down. The big rig then struck a car, which, in turn, collided with yet another 18-wheeler. The vehicles had been caught in traffic congestion.

The four-vehicle accident caused part of the first 18-wheeler to catch fire. The unfortunate driver is said to have died while he was still inside the burning cab of his vehicle. It is possible that there will be an investigation into the cause of the event. Whatever the case, this accident is likely to illustrate the danger posed by a brief lapse of judgment or attention.

Truck drivers often find themselves in unfamiliar territory, with few opportunities for rest. Although they are entitled to rest stops, too many drivers still end up driving while fatigued, which can be a great danger to themselves and those around them.

If you are injured in a truck accident, you may want to seek compensation. If so, you might find the advice of an attorney helpful. He or she can support you through this difficult period and may be able to assist you with any claims you wish to make.
