Head-on crash costs 2 lives in Louisiana

On Behalf of | Oct 30, 2014 | Car Accidents |

Louisiana police have reported a fatal crash on the streets of Lake Charles. The collision involved four vehicles and led to the deaths of two people. One of the surviving drivers has been incarcerated after the accident on suspicion of drunken driving and other charges.

The police believe that a Ford Mustang had been driving along West Prien Lake Road at about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 19. As the Mustang passed the 1100 block, a 2010 Chevrolet truck ran into it head-on. After the initial crash, two more vehicles, both Jeeps, became involved in the wreck. Both the driver and the passenger from the Mustang were thrown from their vehicle by the force of the collision, resulting in fatal injuries to the two of them. There were no reports of other injuries associated with the accident.

A 23-year-old man from Sulfur was taken into custody by Lake Charles police and transported to the Calcasieu Correctional Center where he was charged with DWI and careless operation of a motor vehicle. Police officials were still investigating the incident at the time of the most recent reports.

Those who have lost family members to car accidents may wish to exercise their right to seek fair and just compensation for the harm done to them by filing a civil suit for the wrongful death of their kin. The guidance of an attorney at law may be of use as they attempt to press their claim against those responsible for the accident that took their loved one’s life. If the other driver can be demonstrated to have been negligent, irresponsible or in violation of the law at the time of the accident, then the court may order them to pay financial restitution to the bereaved family.
