Louisiana woman dies in 3-car accident

On Behalf of | Nov 25, 2014 | Car Accidents |

Authorities report that routine toxicology samples were pending in connection with a car wreck that resulted in the death of a driver. The Red River Parish accident occurred as the 44-year-old decedent waited to turn from U.S. Highway 71 into a private drive just before 8 p.m. on Nov. 18. The Coushatta woman was stopped in her 2014 Chevrolet Sonic in the northbound traffic lane when a 43-year Campti woman behind the wheel of a 2012 Dodge Avenger struck the back of her vehicle.

The impact caused the Sonic to move into the southbound lanes where it collided head-on into a Toyota Tundra driven by a 24-year-old man. Reports do not indicate whether the Dodge and Toyota drivers suffered any injuries in the incident.

Authorities stated that the decedent was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred. The driver of the Dodge has been charged for careless vehicle operation in connection with the car crash.

A family who lost a loved one in a serious car accident may deal with a number of significant challenges. In addition to the stress of losing a loved one, there are financial implications as burial expenses are handled. The loss of financial support because of the death of an individual who provided household income could also be extremely hard on a family. Although insurance claims might provide some coverage for losses and costs, a wrongful death suit may also be considered.

Accident investigation results may be helpful to a lawyer who represents a family in a wrongful death action. A lawyer may also prove helpful in negotiating settlements with the liable party’s insurance provider in the case.
