A car accident that occurred in Louisiana on Aug. 8 left two dead and one person with injuries. Authorities stated that the accident happened on LA 19 north of LA 956 in East Feliciana Parish.
State troopers who were involved in the investigation stated that a 26-year-old female driver was traveling on LA 19. At about 4 a.m., she suddenly crossed the center line into oncoming traffic for reasons that were not known. The vehicle went off the side of the road and collided with a concrete abutment, causing the vehicle to catch fire.
The driver of the vehicle and a 41-year-old female passenger both died at the scene of the accident. A third person suffered injuries that were defined as moderate, and the victim was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for treatment. The investigation into the accident was still ongoing when the initial reports were published.
Car accident injuries can be extremely severe. In some cases, these injuries, which could include traumatic brain injuries, broken bones and spinal cord damage, could have a life-changing impact on the victim. If the accident was caused by the negligence of another driver or the driver of the car in which the injured victim was a passenger, the victim may want to discuss the available options for pursuing the recovery of damages with a personal injury attorney. A review of the police investigation report and other evidence may provide the basis for a lawsuit against the responsible party that would seek compensation for the damages that have been sustained.
