A motor vehicle crash that occurred in Louisiana on Oct. 31 left two Iowa residents dead and others injured. The report stated that the crash took place neat the Red Davis McCollister Road and Southpark Drive intersection late at night.
The investigation into the crash revealed that an SUV was traveling through the intersection when a truck that failed to stop collided with it. Both vehicles ended up overturned in a nearby field due to the impact. One passenger in the truck was reported dead at the scene of the accident while a second passenger died after arriving at the hospital. Two other individuals from the truck, including the driver, were transported to a hospital for treatment of their injures. A passenger who was in the SUV was treated at a hospital before being released.
A spokesperson for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation into the crash was still ongoing and that authorities were awaiting results from the toxicology tests that were being conducted, though impairment was not thought to be a factor. It was not known at the time if charges would be filed.
A person who suffers car accident injuries after becoming involved in a crash that was caused by another driver may find it advisable to seek compensation by filing a personal injury claim against the negligent. An attorney may help the injured person demonstrate the total cost of medical bills, lost income and other damages that were a direct result of the accident and the injuries that were received.
