An auto accident can happen at any time in Louisiana. It can have numerous different causes and affect people of all ages. These accidents can result in long hospital stays, significant medical expenses and lost wages. One unfortunate incident ended with the deaths of a 97-year-old woman and her 72-year-old daughter.
The daughter was behind the wheel when their 2012 Toyota Camry was at an intersection not long before 1 p.m. on April 2. The mother was a passenger in the front seat. The daughter stopped at a stop sign and made a left turn. Upon making the turn, their vehicle was hit on the driver’s side by a 2004 GMC Sierra driven by a 30-year-old man.
The mother and daughter were taken to the hospital where they subsequently died. The man driving the Sierra and his 31-year-old female passenger had minor injuries. According to investigators, all people involved had their seat belts on. Tests were taken to determine whether or not there were impairing substances involved and the investigation is ongoing. It is not known whether there were any next of kin.
Fatal motor vehicle accidents often leave the surviving family members of a decedent struggling with financial burdens along with the grief of the sudden loss of a loved one.
