Fatal crash leaves 2 dead in Louisiana

On Behalf of | May 18, 2016 | Car Accidents |

Authorities report that around 8 a.m. on May 17, a fatal two-car collision in Metairie took the lives of two adult women. It was unknown if anyone else was injured in the crash.

According to the report, a 24-year-old Metairie woman was driving a 2007 light blue Ford Mustang on Interstate 10 when she rear-ended another vehicle near the Causeway Blvd. exit ramp. However, instead of remaining at the scene, she exited the freeway and reportedly continued driving down the I-10 service road against traffic at a high rate of speed. A short time later, the Mustang smashed into an oncoming 2016 Volkswagen Jetta as the driver, a 54-year-old man, was turning south onto Edenborn. The force of the impact sent the Mustang airborne and into a utility pole, where it landed on its side.

Emergency personnel who responded to the scene had to work for several hours to remove the bodies from the Mustang. The major crash caused traffic delays while investigators processed the accident scene and crews cleared the crash scene. At the time of reporting, officials were working to determine the cause of the accident.

Whenever a motorist is speeding or operating a vehicle in another type of reckless manner and causes a car crash, others who have been injured may want to have legal representation when seeking compensation for medical expenses and other losses. The survivors of a person who has been killed in such a collision may similarly want the help of an attorney. When the negligent driver has also been killed, the lawsuit could proceed against the motorist’s estate.
